PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You will work as an RN on a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit located on the 5th floor of the Owen Heart Center at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 3x12 night shift position (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) with a 91-day duration, starting August 24, 2026. You will earn $2,125 per week.

Clinical Focus

The PCU serves patients with complex cardiac and metabolic conditions, including CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure patients (cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker, ICD, and ablation). You will perform bedside cardioversion procedures and manage titratable cardiac IV medications.

Staffing & Floating

Your typical patient ratio is 1:4, with stretch staffing at 1:5. You will float to all Med-Surg units, stepdown units, and ER holding as needed. Every-other-weekend coverage is required.

Equipment & Systems

You will work with Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, bladder scanners, and the Cerner EMR system.

Required Experience & Certifications

• Stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
• Telemetry experience
• Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, Lasix/Bumex)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge experience
