About this role
Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 140-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026, offering 3x12 night shifts at $1,884 weekly pay.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- 36 and 48-hour shift options available
- Minimum 3 weekend shifts per 6-week cycle
- No on-call requirement
- 1:4 patient ratio on a 24-bed unit
Role Details
You will provide care to intermediate neurological and medical patients across adult and geriatric populations. Float assignments may include 6A, 5A PCTU, 5C Cardiac Intermediate, and critical care areas with ICU and stepdown patients. Orientation includes 8 hours of computer-based training plus two shifts of on-unit orientation following hospital orientation.
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience; neuro experience strongly preferred
- Travel healthcare experience required
- First-time travelers will not be accepted
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification required
- EKG testing required prior to start
- EPIC system experience required; unit also uses Pyxis and SBAR
- Ability to titrate LEVO
Required Clinical Skills
- Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry
- Neuro assessment, CVA/stroke care, seizure management, post-TPA care, lumbar drain management
- Advanced airway support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, non-invasive ventilation
- IV therapy: peripheral lines, PICC lines, central line care, blood product administration
- Medication management: heparin, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, PCA pumps
- Specialized skills: TR Band, surgical drains, feeding tube management, CBI, hemodialysis pre/post care
- Wound care, isolation precautions, and ABG interpretation
Preferred Qualifications
- CCRN, TNCC, or CPI certification
- Port access and management, phlebotomy, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, charge nurse experience
Scrubs are not provided; wear any combination of navy blue and white. This role requires strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to manage complex intermediate-to-critical patients in a fast-paced setting.
