PCU Float RN Job in Leonardtown, MD

MedStar Saint Marys Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a progressive care unit float position. You'll work day shifts (AM) on a 3x12 schedule for a 91-day assignment beginning November 30, 2026. Weekly pay is $1,969.92.

Role Overview

You'll float between intermediate care (IMC) and medical-surgical units, with occasional coverage for medicine/IMC level boarders in the ED and ICU as assigned. Patient ratios vary by unit: IMC 1:4, medical-surgical/telemetry 1:5–6. Unit sizes include 15 IMC beds, 44 med-surg beds, and 34 telemetry beds. Weekends and holidays are required per hospital needs. You'll report to the staffing office for daily float assignments and work with adult patients.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IMC, PCU, or med-surg float pool
• At least 1 completed travel assignment
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Successful completion of Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)

Clinical Skills

You'll demonstrate competency in PCU/intermediate care, telemetry, ED holding, cardiac telemetry, and med-surg telemetry. Additional skills include port access and management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, cardiac drip management (non-titration), vasoactive drip management (non-titration), arterial blood gas interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, pacemaker management, PCA pumps, PICC line management, phlebotomy, tracheostomy care, thrombolytic agent administration, wound care and wound vac management, and rapid response/code team participation.
