PCU Registered Nurse Job in Baltimore, MD

Join MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 91-day travel assignment offering a 3x12 day shift schedule at $1,988 per week, beginning October 27, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work in the Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit providing direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations. Your patient ratio will be 4–5 patients per shift. You will care for patients with renal, respiratory, and heart failure conditions, as well as those recovering from cardiac, vascular, limb salvage, and GI surgical procedures requiring telemetry monitoring outside the ICU setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Provide cardiac telemetry care and central line management
• Administer blood products and manage heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Deliver tracheostomy and wound care, including wound vac management
• Operate BiPAP/CPAP equipment and IV pumps
• Float to equivalent or lower acuity units if census drops
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams including IV services, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response

Requirements

• RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years recent nursing experience
• Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Experience with PCU, step-down, or IMC environments

Contract Details

This position requires 10 weekend shifts over the 91-day contract period. Scrubs are not provided; you must wear Navy Blue and White. Patients will travel off the floor for procedures; no bedside procedures are performed in this unit.

Support services available include IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and physical therapy.
