PCU RN Job in Council Bluffs, IA

You will work as a registered nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting August 17, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,384.64.

Schedule and Shift Details

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM)
• Cyclic scheduling with every other weekend requirement
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday requirement
• 1 orientation shift of 12 hours in the department

Clinical Responsibilities

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Care for patients with common diagnoses including heart failure, AFib, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Work with CPAP equipment and troubleshoot as needed
• May float to ICU if appropriate experience is present

Unit Environment

• Fast-paced unit with high volume of admits and discharges
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:10 ratio
• Charting system: EPIC

Requirements and Certifications

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
