PCU RN Job in Council Bluffs, IA

CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking an RN (Registered Nurse) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week on a cyclic schedule with every other weekend requirement. Shift times are either 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Manage patients with diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Operate and troubleshoot CPAP equipment
• Float to ICU when appropriate experience is present
• Document in the EPIC charting system

Unit Environment:

The PCU operates as a fast-paced unit with high volume of patient admits and discharges. A charge nurse is present on each shift and maintains a full patient assignment. Nurse aides and patient care techs are available at a 1:10 ratio to support your care delivery.

Orientation and Requirements:

• One 12-hour orientation shift in the department
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Valid driver's license required at time of application
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments

Assignment Details:

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 17, 2026. You will earn $2,573 per week. Holiday requirements include 1 major and 1 minor holiday during your assignment.
