PICU RN Job in Mesa, AZ

Banner Desert Medical Center is seeking an RN for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Mesa, Arizona. This is a 3x12 night shift position available for 89 days, beginning October 26, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,569.

Role Overview

You will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of pediatric patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. You will perform comprehensive patient assessments including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. You will review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
• Delegate and supervise activities of licensed and non-licensed healthcare team members
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising care plans as needed
• Document assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation accurately and in a timely manner in the patient record
• Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and quality improvement initiatives
• Precept and mentor other staff, patients, students, families, and visitors as appropriate

Physical Requirements

You must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. You must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. You will use standard precautions due to potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids.

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of one year of acute care experience required, with experience in specialty area within the past 12 months
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Professional certification preferred
