PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• 4 x 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
• Variable start times with 11:00 AM as the latest start time
• Occasional on-call shifts required
• Float between PACU and Same Day Surgery (Phase I and Phase II areas)
• Manage care for Same Day Surgery and Pre-Op patients
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other health team members
• Administer treatments, medications, and perform nursing skills in a timely manner
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, initiating emergency interventions as needed
• Serve as liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care
• Required skills include: Phase I PACU, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, central line care/management, IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, reversal agents, conscious sedation, post-epidural management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, and RASS
• Surgical specialty experience required including: bariatrics, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, and vascular
• Charting system experience required
• Required certifications: CA RN License, ACLS, BLS
• PALS is not required for this position
