PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Night shift, 36 hours per week only
• Patient ratios vary per acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
• 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks required (flexible)
• Float requirement: Will follow unit rotation and is not first to float
• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
• Travel experience required unless traveler has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills: Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Sheath Removal, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Manage Cardiac drips (no titration), Titrate Cardiac drips, Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), External CPAP/BiPAP, Nasal Cannula, and Non-invasive airway management
• Preferred skills: Arterial line management, Wound Care/Wound Vac, and Charge Experience
• Special equipment includes: Doppler, Bladder scanner, EKG, Femoral Sheaths, TR Band, Fem-stop, Chest tubes, Epicardial Pacing Wires, and Cardiac Drips
• Documentation systems: Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication
• Scrubs: Navy
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
