Med Surg RN Job in Cape Girardeau, MO

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking an RN for a Med Surg Neurosciences position working 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM). This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 13, 2026, with a weekly pay of $1,971.

Role Overview

You will care for medical and surgical neuro patients on a 17-bed unit, including those with Parkinson's disease, stroke, lumbar conditions, and similar diagnoses (no trauma). Your responsibilities include administering medications, wound care, monitoring patients for reactions or side effects, and maintaining IV therapy competency including central line care. You will document all care using the EPIC EMR system and supervise unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff.

Shift and Scheduling

• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Block schedule requests considered but never guaranteed
• Weekend hours as needed
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Current BLS certification; NIH certification can be completed at orientation
• Charge experience or willingness to learn and assume charge duties
• Neuro and stroke experience highly preferred

Clinical Details

You will work with a patient ratio of 1:6 on the unit and may float to Med Surg and Progressive Care units as needed. You will use customary equipment including IV pumps, recognize adverse signs and symptoms, and respond quickly in emergency situations. Scrub color is black.
