Med Surg RN Job in Saint Louis, MO

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical-Surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment on a 3x12 night shift schedule, earning $2,086.82 per week.

Schedule & Staffing

• Available for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call
• Patient ratios of 1:4–6
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract
• Guaranteed hours provided

Clinical Responsibilities

You will care for patients coming from the ED, OR, and ICU, managing cases across geriatric trauma (55+), acute trauma (abuse/violence victims, motor vehicle accidents, falls), and acute care surgery (appendicitis, gallbladder, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, traumatic brain injury). Patient populations include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. You will float within the service line to meet facility needs and must have Level I Trauma experience.

Required Clinical Skills

• Med/Surg nursing, blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV starts
• Spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements
• Surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen management
• Wound care, wound vacs, isolation precautions
• Special equipment: lifts, restraints, traction, external fixators

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of nursing experience
• Travel healthcare experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Must pass Relias EKG exam (Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias)
• Epic charting system experience required

Preferred Certifications

CPI, NIHSS, BSN, TNCC.

Unit Details

Navy blue scrubs required. Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Rapid Response Teams.
