ICU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work 3 shifts of 12 hours each, nights from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting October 19, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,346.

Your role involves floating across ICU and PCU units. Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, so you may float 2–3 times per shift. You will care for adult and geriatric patients with ICU patient ratios averaging 2:1 and PCU ratios at 5:1. You must be comfortable working without CNA support.

Schedule and Expectations:

• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Self-scheduling available

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Current experience at a large Level I or Level II facility
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certification
• EPIC charting experience required

Clinical Skills:

• IV therapy: arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance
• Respiratory support: BiPAP and CPAP management, care of ventilated patients
• Medication administration: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Wound care: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
• Cardiac monitoring: dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Endocrine and metabolic management: IV insulin protocol adherence

Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
