ICU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit. You will work 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM), with every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block. This is a 91-day contract starting November 9, 2026. You will earn $2,084 weekly.

Role Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience with previous ICU experience required
• Large L1/L2 facility experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting system experience
• Patient ratio of 1:2

Clinical Competencies

• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Rapid Response and Code team participation
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care including ports, arterial lines, and PICC lines
• Medication administration including continuous IV paralytics, neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Neuro-specific skills: acute stroke and CVA management, external ventricular drain (EVD) care, hypothermia protocol and Arctic Sun operation, ICP monitoring, lumbar drain management, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, endotracheal and nasotracheal suctioning, and ventilator management

Patient Populations and Procedures

You will care for patients with stroke, neurosurgery, neuro-specific diagnoses, and complex spine conditions. Special procedures include EVD placement and therapeutic thermoregulation. Floating within your skillset may be required.

• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• All requested time off must be submitted with initial submission
