Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Universal Care RN position with rotating every other Saturday required; no Sunday shifts
• Patient ratio of 4:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• 3 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• BSN required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Daily census ranges from 8 to 20 patients
• Provide care for Med Surg/Tele observation or admission hold patients in overflow area, including cardiac, GI, respiratory, and fall patients requiring repeat CT while on blood thinners
• Provide patient care for patients that do not require admission but still need care for several hours or overnight
• Write initial nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individual care plans
• Coordinate and delegate patient care assignments to support personnel
• Provide direct patient care and evaluate outcomes, consulting with other disciplines as needed
• Maintain documentation in the patient record and adhere to regulatory standards
• Assist physicians with patient exams and special procedures
• Respond to emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients
• Function as relief Charge Nurse as assigned
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, CVA management, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, PCA, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, renal failure management, starting and maintaining IVs, telemetry monitoring, titration of insulin drips, use of rapid response/code teams, and wound care/wound vac
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
• Valid California RN license required
