Telemetry RN Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry unit at Mercy Hospital Downtown - Bakersfield. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
• Day shift schedule with every other weekend requirement
• 4 shifts out of a 4-week schedule include weekend days (Saturday and Sunday)
• Block scheduling allowed if unit needs are met, but not guaranteed

Unit Details

• 4W Telemetry: 31 beds (11 private, 10 semi-private)
• Patient ratio: 1 to 4
• Floor-specific orientation: 1 to 2 shifts with a preceptor
• Nurse aides available: 2 on days, 1 on nights

Clinical Responsibilities

• Read and interpret all cardiac rhythms using Phillips telemetry equipment
• Chart in Cerner with Omnicell pharmacy support
• Manage patients with diagnoses including post pacemaker, hemodialysis, new onset AFib or RVR, ICU stepdown, urology, oncology with cardiac monitoring needs, strokes, TBI, sepsis, and high-acuity patients
• Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to 2W MedSurg remote tele, MedSurg SW, ICU for tele MS hold, or ER holds as needed

Support and Resources

• Hospitalist or intensivist on call after hours
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 (CPAP and BiPAP support per RT)
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• Must report within 30 minutes if placed on standby or call

Requirements

• Active California nursing license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• BSN not required
• Navy blue scrubs required; scrub jackets and undershirts must be navy, white, or black

Compensation
