Telemetry RN Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry unit at Mercy Hospital Southwest in Bakersfield, CA. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts, scheduled 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Your weekly pay is $2,066.

Shift and Schedule

• Night shift with every other weekend requirement (Friday/Saturday nights)
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Minimum 1 major and 1 minor holiday shift required
• Shift huddles at 0700 and 1900 daily
• No on-call requirement; standby placement possible with 30-minute response time for low census

Unit Overview

The Telemetry unit has 32 all-private beds. You will care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical patients (bariatrics, total joints, urology, GYN, podiatry, general surgery), stroke patients, and potential oncology patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 for telemetry patients and 1:5 for medical-surgical patients.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Administer set-rate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin (no titration required)
• Read and interpret cardiac rhythms using GE monitors
• Manage CPAP and BiPAP equipment per RT and MD order
• Perform bedside shift reports, intentional hourly rounding, and medication teaching

Floating and Flexibility

Travelers float first and may be placed on other medical-surgical Telemetry units, ICU for medical-surgical Telemetry patients, or ER for medical-surgical Telemetry holds.

Requirements and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Active ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA or APEX) certifications required
• BSN not required
• Cerner charting experience preferred

Onboarding and Dress Code

You will receive 1 to 2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor. Scrubs must be navy blue with navy, white, or black undershirts. Scrub jackets must be navy; hoodies, sweatshirts, and sweat jackets are not permitted.
