PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 36 or 48 hours per week; schedule may change based on staffing needs
• Team nursing ratios of 1:12, split between 2 RNs, 2 LPNs, a med nurse, and charge nurse
• Patient ratios of 4:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend coverage required on an as-needed rotation basis
• On-call required as needed
• Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown, Med Surg Overflow, or Neuro experience required
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Large hospital experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• EPIC charting system experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient diagnoses include altered mental status, strokes, uncontrolled seizures, post-craniotomy, Cardene/Cardizem drips, and lumbar drains
• Key skills required include cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, tracheostomy care, management of vasoactive and cardiac drips, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, wound care/wound vac, traumatic brain injury care, CVA management, intracranial bleeds, post-TPA care, craniotomy care, external ventricular drain management, lumbar drain management, seizure disorder management, and spinal cord injury care
• Special equipment includes continuous EEG monitoring
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application; RTO will not be approved after an offer is made
• Block scheduling is not available; weekend block scheduling may be considered
