PCU RN Job in Nashville, TN

Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll work the night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week at $1,891 weekly.

The 30-bed unit combines 22 acute care beds and 8 neuro step-down beds. Your patient ratios will be 6:1 on the acute care side and 4:1 on the neuro step-down. Weekend shifts are required as part of this role. After orientation, experienced nurses may float within the unit.

You'll manage a range of clinical equipment and interventions:

• Vital sign monitoring systems
• High-flow oxygen and Vapotherm therapy
• Chest tubes and suction management
• BiPAP and tracheal care
• Cardiac drips and various medication infusions

Your responsibilities include caring for stroke patients and neurological cases, performing procedures such as lumbar punctures and chest tube placements, and using the Meditech documentation system. You'll participate in bedside shift reports, maintain personal connections with patients and team members, and contribute to daily huddles.

Required certifications are BLS for acute care assignments and both BLS and ACLS for neuro step-down assignments. Step-down experience is preferred if you'll be assigned to the neuro step-down side.

Success in this role depends on strong nursing skills, effective time management, and critical thinking abilities. Many nurses view this PCU assignment as an excellent stepping stone toward ICU-level practice. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork and professional development.

Assignment begins September 28, 2026. Black, blue, or grey scrubs are standard; any color scrubs are permitted on Fridays.
