PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Night shift position in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Patient ratios of 5:1 for nights and weekends
• Weekend coverage required
• Float required as needed within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications only accepted)
• Active PA or Compact license required
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Primary diagnoses include CHF, new onset Afib, COPD, and pneumonia
• Manage cardiac telemetry and drips including Heparin, Bumex, Cardizem, Nitro, Amiodarone, and Dopamine (per protocol, no titration)
• Skills required include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tube management, cardiac telemetry monitoring, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, pacemaker management, PCA, PICC line management, post cardiac angiogram care, post MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, tracheostomy care/management, wound care/wound vac, and starting and maintaining IVs
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Must be available to work every other holiday
• Two supervisor references preferred
