NICU RN Job in Odessa, TX

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in a Level III NICU at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 17, 2026, with 4x12 night shifts paying $2,775 weekly.

Role Overview

You'll provide direct care to high-risk neonates in a specialized intensive care environment. Your patient ratio will be 1:3 across days, nights, and weekends. Self-scheduling is available, though you'll float to Pediatrics and Nursery as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience
• Previous travel healthcare assignment required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Cerner charting system proficiency
• Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications (PALS preferred)

Clinical Skills You'll Use

Your daily responsibilities include management of ventilators (AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, PEEP), central and umbilical lines, arterial lines, high-flow nasal cannula, and high-frequency ventilation. You'll administer medications including vasopressors, antibiotics, antivirals, steroids, and insulin. You'll perform phlebotomy, start and maintain IVs, place and manage feeding tubes, monitor blood glucose, support breastfeeding, and provide phototherapy and thermoregulation care.

You'll care for critically ill neonates, including those under 34 weeks gestation, and manage conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, necrotizing enterocolitis, neonatal abstinence syndrome, neonatal sepsis, meconium aspiration, and hyperbilirubinemia. Additional skills include therapeutic hypothermia management, APGAR scoring, assisting with lumbar punctures, attending high-risk deliveries, and providing developmental care.
