OR RN Job in Reston, VA

Reston Hospital Center VA is seeking an RN for Operating Room coverage on a travel assignment. This is a 91-day contract starting August 31, 2026, with a schedule of three 12-hour day shifts weekly, running 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM.

Role Overview

You will provide scrub and circulator coverage across 18 operating rooms, with opportunities to serve as charge RN and surgical service line expert. Your responsibilities include supporting diverse surgical specialties and assisting OR support technicians as needed. Floating to obstetric OR coverage may be required.

Surgical Experience Required

Level 2 or greater trauma experience is required; candidates without this background will not be considered. Preferred experience includes orthopedics (general, total joint, and spine), neurosurgery, general surgery, gynecology, urology, vascular surgery, and thoracic procedures. Expert spine and orthopedic skills are valued. You will encounter typical procedures such as spinal fusion, total joint replacements, orthopedic trauma cases, and DaVinci robotic procedures including prostatectomy, colectomy, and gastric bypass.

Scheduling and On-Call

Weekend and night shift coverage is required to support unit vacancies. On-call duty is approximately four 12-hour shifts per 8-week schedule. Night shift roles include scrub and circulator trauma team coverage with additional on-call support teams.

Facility Details

The facility uses Meditech as its electronic medical record system. Scrubs are provided by the hospital. On your first day of contract, you will review dress code, attendance policies, and unit-specific expectations.

Certifications and Licensing

Current BLS certification and role-specific certifications (such as CST) aligned with state and federal regulations are required.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,241.
