About this role

Join Bay Area Medical Center's 16-bed Emergency Department as a registered nurse on a 13-week travel assignment. You'll work day shifts (7 AM–7 PM) on a 3x12 schedule, earning $1,661 weekly, with a start date of September 14, 2026.

Your Role

You will provide direct patient care across the full spectrum of emergency acuity, from ESI 5 to ESI 1. Your typical patient ratio is 1:4 for low-acuity ESI 4 & 5 patients, with the possibility of managing up to 6 patients during high-demand periods. The 16-bed main area is supplemented by 8 additional hall chairs to accommodate patient flow.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, vital signs documentation, and medication administration
  • Manage IV placement, lab draws, and urine collection
  • Provide wound care and splinting
  • Operate cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP equipment, Tonopen, and additional medical devices
  • Utilize the Meditech EMR system with automated vital signs integration
  • Attend mandatory shift huddles at 7 AM and 7 PM (unless providing critical care)
  • Complete mandatory EMTALA training

Staffing Environment

Day shift includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4–5 RNs, 1 unit secretary, and 1–2 techs. Night shift operates with similar structure but unit secretarial coverage through midnight only.

Requirements

  • Level II or Level III trauma experience required
  • Current certifications: TNCC or ENPC, PALS, ACLS, and BLS
  • Greater than two years of emergency department experience preferred
  • Preferred certifications: CEN, TCRN, or CPI

Additional Information

Royal Blue scrubs are preferred. Team jerseys may be worn on Sundays in support of seasonal teams. This is a Level II/III trauma center opportunity in Corpus Christi, Texas.
