CVOR Technologist Job in Altoona, PA

You will work as a Surgical Tech in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Operating Room (CVOR) at West Central – UPMC Altoona. This is a 90-day travel position with a 4x10 schedule, working four days per week at 10 hours per day. Your weekly pay is $2,791.

Your responsibilities include:

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions before procedures begin
• Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment and verify proper working order
• Prepare patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites
• Assist the surgical team with donning sterile gowns and gloves
• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures
• Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, and sponge or suction the operative site under surgeon supervision
• Count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments throughout procedures to maintain accurate records
• Assist in preparation, care, and disposal of specimens taken for laboratory analysis
• Ensure all medications are properly labeled and handed to the surgeon per established policies
• Assist with patient transport to recovery and clean and restock the operating room after each procedure
• Maintain a clean and safe environment through adherence to safety protocols and aseptic technique

Requirements: You must be an Allied Health Professional with a minimum of 2 years of surgical tech experience. Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and either Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) are required. You must comply with Pennsylvania Acts 31, 33, 34, and 73, and meet all Pennsylvania legislative requirements for surgical technologist practice per House Bill 81.
