ED RN Job in Austin, TX

Join South Austin Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department for a 13-week contract assignment. You will work three 12-hour night shifts each week, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with no on-call requirements and a rotating weekend schedule.

About the Role

You will care for patients across a 48-bed emergency department that includes private rooms, hallway stretchers, fast track, and behavioral health areas. Your patient ratios will be 1:4 in the ED, 1:5 in behavioral health, and 1:3 in cardiac and trauma settings.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform splinting, EKGs, and central monitoring
• Assist with trauma cases, central line placement, and airway support
• Provide behavioral health de-escalation
• Operate equipment including Alaris pumps, Belmont and Level 1 rapid infusers, and Stryker stretchers
• Perform procedures including Morgan lens application, rapid infusion, and resuscitation

System Requirements

Prior experience with MEDITECH electronic medical records is preferred. You will wear navy blue scrubs.

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• TNCC
• NIHSS

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma experience
• Inpatient holding experience
• CPI certification

The ideal candidate is a multitasker, team player, and self-starter. Assignment begins October 5, 2026, and runs for 91 days.
