Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with available shift times of 5:30 AM–6:00 PM, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, and 5:30 PM–6:00 AM; primary shift noted as 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible but is not guaranteed
• One weekend per month is required; day shift requires Saturday and Sunday, night shift requires Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holidays are worked in rotation with permanent staff
• First to float on EOW shifts; no floating to other floors
• Patient ratio is 1:4 generally, 1:2 for ICU-level patients, and 1:1 for critical patients
• Average patient census is 65 patients per day with high fluctuation
• 70% of patient population is ESI acuity level 1, 2, or 3; overall patient acuity is very high with a high admission rate
• Common diagnoses include trauma stabilization and transfer, STEMIs, strokes, pediatric cases, flu, abdominal pain, and orthopedic injuries
• Drips include propofol, precedex, cardizem, and others
• Nurses draw their own labs approximately 60% of the time
• Ventilator experience required as vents are used on the unit
• EMR system is Cerner
• Telemetry monitoring handled by EMTs but not on a 24/7 basis using Philips monitors
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy available on-site until 10:00 PM with after-hours coverage through an external facility
• 3–4 shift orientation with a preceptor provided
• Night shift nurses must have pediatric experience as staffing levels are limited overnight
• 2–3 years of emergency room experience required; travel experience preferred
• Trauma experience is highly preferred

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and ENPC or PALS
