Med Surg RN Job in Plano, TX

Join Medical City Plano as a Registered Nurse on our 36-bed Orthopedic Trauma Med Surg unit. This is a travel nursing role offering three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) for 91 days, beginning August 24, 2026.

The Role

You will provide direct patient care to individuals with orthopedic injuries, trauma, and related conditions. Your patient assignment will typically be 1:5, with flexibility to 1:6 as needed. The night shift team includes one charge nurse, eight RNs, and three CNAs working together to support patient recovery.

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based nursing care for polytrauma patients, non-surgical cervical fractures cleared by spine, orthopedic, and trauma teams, and patients with downgraded traumatic brain injuries
• Manage patients with up to three drains and burn downgrades as appropriate
• Administer medications including Heparin and Protonix drips
• Monitor telemetry equipment and document care in the Meditech EMR system
• Float to other Med Surg units as staffing needs require
• Commit to four weekend shifts during your assignment

Expectations

You must arrive on the unit by 6:45 PM for huddle; a tardy policy is enforced with a deadline of 6:53 PM. Royal blue scrubs are required.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state specified upon placement)
• Minimum one year of Med Surg nursing experience
• Orthopedic and/or trauma patient care experience preferred
• BLS certification required

Compensation
