RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Patient ratio: 1:5-6 on days and nights; 1:6 on weekends; 32-bed unit
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Typically every other weekend, with permanent staff scheduled first and travelers filling in gaps (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• Holiday expectations: if 1-2 major holidays fall within assignment period, traveler is expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within assignment period, traveler is expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call is rare; response time is 2 hours
• Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Georgia or Compact nursing license required
• HARD STOP: Prior travel experience required and experience managing the following continuous IV medications required:
   - Cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin
   - Diuretics: Bumex, Lasix
   - Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin
   - Insulin drips
• Provide care for patients with overflow IMCU, arrhythmia management, cardioversion, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, cardiac arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR Bands, DKA, and occasional orthopedic or CVA patient overflow
• Skills required include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, titration of insulin drips, heparin protocols, blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, peripheral line care and management, pre/post cardiac cath, TR Band management, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, use of rapid response/code teams
• Special equipment: RT available 24/7 for High Flow and BiPAP
• Telemetry competency exam required
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge, hemodynamic monitoring, and care of patients post PCI required
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
