RN - CVICU

Job Details:

• Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Scheduled every other weekend and holidays in rotation
• 28-bed mixed ICU unit with patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions
• Travelers are first to float and may be sent to the emergency department or PCU to care for PCU or ICU holds
• Bedside shift report required for every patient with each transfer of care
• Use i-mobile phones for care team communication and mobile computer workstations on wheels
• Document using Meditech system
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• 36 months of RN experience required with at least one year in an ICU
• Prior CVICU experience required
• One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferred, ideally in a Meditech facility
• Must be able to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients and be comfortable managing ventilator patients
• Must be proficient in reading telemetry strips
• Advanced skills required: CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy
• Administer breathing treatments including inhalers and nebulizers outside of the ICU
• Perform or support procedures including post-op day 0 CABG (fresh heart from OR), Impella, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics
• Neuro procedures including aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun experience with induced hypothermia
• BSN preferred
• Advanced certifications preferred
• TNCC certification preferred
• Required dress code: Navy uniform
