RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Flexible contract length from 8 to 26 weeks
• PM shift with every other weekend requirement
• Holiday rotation required - staff must work one summer and one winter holiday
• Staff are assigned to rotating groups for self-scheduling, with groups rotating every scheduling period (weekly)
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls in the assignment, expect to work it; if two holidays, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
• Position will require floating at times to cover staffing needs
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates within 50 miles of facility are not accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, CPI
• Charting system: Meditech (preferred)
• Community hospital experience preferred
• 24 orientation hours required
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Unit is a 22-bed Dedicated Education Unit focused on foundational nursing skills
• Daily census of approximately 20 patients
• Required skills include: blood product administration, central line blood draw, feeding tube care and management, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), insulin administration, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, PCA management, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, telemetry remote monitoring, wound care, and wound vac
• Preferred skills include: accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy management and care, phlebotomy, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure management
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, transportation, and unit secretary
