Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every-other-weekend requirement (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule); Nights schedule is Friday/Saturday
• Work into the holiday rotation schedule
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7, mostly 1:7 for both day and night shifts
• CNA support available with ratios of 1:10-12, typically 4-6 CNAs per shift
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS; ACLS is a plus
• BSN not required
• EMR system: Sunrise (Allscripts)
• RN dress code: Navy blue top and bottom, navy scrub jackets; no hoodies
• Scrub patients include all ortho post-ops, basic neuro post-ops (laminectomies, discectomies, spinal fusions), general post-ops (gallbladders, mastectomies, sleeve gastrectomies), and medical diagnoses including COPD, pneumonia, and cellulitis
• Hemodialysis is performed on this unit; experience with peritoneal dialysis is highly preferred
• Common drips include Heparin, PCAs with MSO4, and occasional Ativan; no cardiac drips or continuous insulin
• Respiratory support includes intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow; RT is in-house 24/7
• IV Team starts all IVs; RNs assess IV sites only
• Remote telemetry available as needed; monitored on a separate unit; RNs not required to read strips
• Pharmacy in-house 24/7 with Pyxis system
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; Intensivist in ICU 24/7; Residents in-house 24/7
• Schedules made 6 weeks at a time; staff may submit up to 6 requests off per 6-week schedule
• Floating possible to other MedSurg or MedSurg/Oncology units; may float to IMC for MedSurg overflow only with no drips
• Orientation includes general hospital orientation followed by 2 full shifts on the unit
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver's license at time of submission; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
