Med Surg RN Job in Martinsburg, WV

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in a 21-bed Medical-Surgical unit at WVU Berkeley Medical Center, serving patients who have undergone orthopedic and neurological procedures. This is an acute care setting where you'll care for patients recovering from total joint replacements, spinal procedures, craniotomies, and related conditions, with occasional overflow from general medical-surgical floors.

Schedule and Staffing

• 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, rotating between day (7:00 AM–7:30 AM) and night (7:00 PM–7:30 PM) rotations
• Every other weekend required; night shifts include Friday, Saturday, Sunday; day shifts include Saturday, Sunday
• Rotating holiday schedule based on unit needs
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6 for both day and night shifts
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Patient Care Technicians available on unit

Clinical Responsibilities and Support

• Remote telemetry monitoring; you must recognize arrhythmias and fatal rhythms
• Ventilator experience required: BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow
• IV drips limited to Heparin and Protonix (no titrating or cardiac drips)
• Respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and hospitalist staffed on-site 24/7
• EMR system is EPIC; IV system is B-Braun with no on-site IV team
• May float to other Med-Surg units; will not float to ED or Behavioral Health

Orientation and Training

• One-shift orientation with a preceptor, including Net Learning Modules and EPIC training
• Block scheduling available if included in your contract
• Schedule requests submitted via Kronos at least 2 weeks in advance for 4-week periods

Requirements and Details

• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certification required; ACLS preferred
• BSN not required
• Dress code: navy blue scrubs, navy or white jacket, white or navy undershirt, natural hair color only; excessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered

Assignment Terms

This 91-day assignment begins August 14, 2026. You will receive $2,229.12 per week. The client may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment or 1 shift for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
