Med Surg RN Job in Roanoke, VA

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Medical Surgical unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 9, 2026, offering 3x12 night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM) at $1,944 weekly.

Unit Overview

You will care for adult acute care patients across a range of diagnoses, including those recovering from elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder conditions, and cellulitis. Your patient population spans adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The unit maintains a 1:6 patient ratio across day, night, and weekend shifts and features a self-scheduling model.

Scheduling & Expectations

• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 13-week scheduling block
• At least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• All requested time off must be submitted with initial assignment submission

Clinical Responsibilities

You will provide direct patient care including peripheral line care and management, oxygen administration and tank management, nasal cannula application, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions. You will work collaboratively with Rapid Response and Code teams and may be required to float within your skillset or assume charge nurse or preceptor responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year Med Surg experience
• EPIC experience (hard stop requirement—candidates without EPIC will not be considered)
• Proficiency in Medical Surgical nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Charge nurse experience

The facility provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services to enhance patient outcomes.
