Med Surg RN Job in West Des Moines, IA

UnityPoint - Methodist West Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their 30-bed Med Surg unit. You'll provide care to post-operative and spine patient populations on a night shift schedule.

• Schedule: 3x12 nights, every third weekend required. No on-call responsibilities.
• Assignment length: 91 days, starting October 12, 2026.
• Pay: $2,303 weekly.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:6 on night shift.
• Clinical duties: Administer heparin drips, manage post-operative care, and provide spine-focused nursing. You may float across all campuses as required.

Requirements:

• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license.
• 24 months of med surg or medical surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting.
• Strong heparin experience and post-operative/surgical care experience required.
• Spine care experience required.
• Minimum 3 months of current travel experience within the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers).
• EPIC EMR experience required.
• AHA or ARC BLS certification required.
• Navy blue solid scrubs required.
• Willingness to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed.
