PICU RN Job in Mesa, Arizona

Banner Desert Medical Center is seeking an RN for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Mesa, Arizona. This is a 3-shift, 12-hour night position available for an 89-day assignment starting November 2, 2026. You will earn $2,559 weekly.

Your Role

You will provide direct patient care in a pediatric critical care setting, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized nursing care for each patient. You will perform comprehensive assessments covering physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs. You will review patient histories, diagnostics, and laboratory results, reporting abnormal findings to physicians and appropriate caregivers promptly.

Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, you will formulate and implement care plans tailored to each patient's needs. You will delegate and supervise activities of licensed and non-licensed team members, evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, and revise care plans as needed. Accurate and timely documentation in the patient record is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient and family assessments including discharge planning needs
• Participate in unit and facility shared leadership and quality improvement initiatives
• Precept and mentor staff, patients, students, families, and visitors as appropriate
• Maintain standard precautions due to potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids

Physical Requirements

You must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. You will need to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.

Required Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum one year of acute care experience
• Experience in PICU specialty within the past 12 months
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Professional certification preferred
