PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting October 5, 2026, with three 12-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM–7:15 AM). You'll earn $2,094 weekly.

The Role

You'll provide direct patient care in a 10-bed ICU/PCU overflow unit with a 2:1 patient ratio for ICU patients and 4–5:1 for PCU patients. Each shift is staffed with one Charge RN and five Staff RNs. You'll float as needed across the unit and perform bedside shift reports. The relief charge nurse will conduct nurse leader rounding. You'll assist providers with bedside procedures including chest tube insertion and intubations.

Required Experience & Skills

You must have medical ICU experience in a large facility. You'll need comfort with hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, critical care pharmacology (including IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line management. Critical thinking, flexibility, and strong teamwork are essential.

Unit Details

Equipment & Systems

You'll use Cerner for documentation, along with lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) systems, ventilators, and IV pumps.

Certifications & Dress Code

BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Wear navy blue or white scrubs.
