PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as an RN on the 4Heart Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit cares for patients recovering from major cardiovascular and vascular procedures, as well as overflow medical cardiology patients.

Patient Population & Clinical Focus:

• Primary patients: CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Overflow admissions: Heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Patient ratio: 1:5 per RN

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Epidural management and chest tube management
• Tube feedings and IV glucommander administration
• Cardiac drip management: phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Equipment operation: Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, patient lifts, and Cerner EMR

Experience & Credentials Required:

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Stepdown and telemetry experience required
• Preferred: Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery experience within the past year, or CVICU experience

Scheduling & Flexibility:

• 3x12 night shifts per week (6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
• No on-call requirements
• Float to other stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical units (1:6–7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding (1:6)

Assignment duration: 91 days. Start date: April 15, 2026. Weekly pay: $2,102.40.
