Job Details:

• Support a newly opened PCU unit while also caring for ICU-level patients
• Care for MS/Telemetry, PCU, and/or critical care patients
• Float to MS/Tele, PCU, or critical care areas in the event of low census
• Patient ratios: MS/Tele 6:1, Critical Care 2:1, PCU 4:1 (days, nights, and weekends)
• Weekend coverage required
• Self-scheduling
• No on-call required
• 24 orientation hours provided
• 1 year of experience required
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Must be comfortable with a wide range of critical care skills including arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, telemetry monitoring, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac
• Additional skills include blood product administration, chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), pacemaker management, PICC line management, sheath removal, thrombolytic agents, and TAVR post-care
• Unit is designed as a universal suite where each room can function as a telemetry, PCU, or critical care bed based on diagnosis and accommodation code
• Continuous bedside monitoring and arterial lines are used as special equipment on the unit
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and social services
• Common patient diagnoses include Afib RVR, TAVR, post-PCI, DKA, COPD/asthma exacerbations, stable vents, high FiO2 requirements, HF management, and renal failure
• Patients served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Local candidates within 50-mile radius are not accepted
