PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic intermediate care setting with a strong focus on clinical skills and patient acuity management.

Assignment Details

• 13-week contract with start date October 19, 2026
• 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• 36-bed Med-Surg Intermediate Care unit with telemetry focus
• Patient ratio of 4:1 with primary patients and insulin drips
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity areas

Patient Populations & Clinical Focus

You will care for stable and weaning ventilator/tracheostomy patients, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detoxification, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy care, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke patients.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2+ years clinical experience (firm requirement)
• Stepdown, intermediate, or PCU experience required
• ICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required
• At least 1 prior travel healthcare assignment required
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Weekly pay is $2,583. The contract includes 36 hours of low census unbillable hours available in hour increments as needed. Scrubs may be any color.
