PCU RN Job in Albany, NY

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit on a travel assignment. You will care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients requiring high-acuity nursing skills and clinical judgment.

Role Overview

You will manage an average patient load of three high-acuity patients in a progressive critical care environment. Your responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, medication administration, hemodynamic monitoring, and collaborative care planning for patients with complex medical and surgical needs.

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Respiratory failure
• Sepsis
• Closed head injuries
• Multi-system organ dysfunction
• Endocrine disorders
• Complex traumas
• Surgical complications

Required Clinical Competencies

• Advanced hemodynamics monitoring with pressor titration per protocol
• Antihypertensive drips, sedative drips, and Narcan administration
• Thromboembolic therapies
• Arterial lines (A-lines), central venous pressure (CVP) monitoring, and external ventricular drains (EVD)
• Orthopedic traction management
• Infection prevention protocols
• High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygenation support
• Care of both medical and surgical patient populations

Required Credentials & Experience

• Current RN license
• ACLS certification required
• Epic electronic health record experience required
• Large-scale adult PCU experience and community hospital ICU experience preferred

Assignment Details

• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour night shifts per week (48 hours available)
• Duration: 91 days
• Start date: September 7, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,623
• Facility dress code: Navy blue scrubs required
