Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical unit at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Crisis Response in Wilmington, NC. This is a 13-week contract position on nights, scheduled 3x12 hours with every other weekend required.

What you'll do:

• Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics on a Med Surg/Oncology unit with a target ratio of 1:6 (ratios may increase during higher census)
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection
• Manage complex patients with diagnoses including sepsis, cancer, AKI, malignant neoplasms, diabetic foot ulcers, and others
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed, including ED inpatient holding
• Perform skilled nursing tasks: central line blood draws, PICC line management, port access, chest tube care, blood product administration, wound care, and more
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

What we need from you:

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• BLS and Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC required); oncology certification preferred
• Proficiency with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR documentation
• Strong skills in colostomy care, isolation precautions, non-invasive airway management, insulin and heparin administration, surgical drains, and chest tubes
• Pass EKG testing prior to start
• Ability to be called in if a pre-scheduled shift is called off

Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts). Scrubs are navy blue and white.

Pay and details: $1,969.92 per week. Start date: August 3, 2026.
