Radiation Therapist Job in Pittsburgh, PA

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is recruiting a Radiation Therapist for a 28-week travel assignment at Southwest - UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA. You will work 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, with a weekly pay of $3,121. Start date: September 6, 2026.

About the Role

As a Radiation Therapist, you will deliver prescribed radiation treatments to patients under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist. Your responsibilities include obtaining localization images, performing treatment and simulation procedures, fabricating immobilization devices and shielding, and administering radiosurgery and brachytherapy when applicable. You will take measurements for treatment calculation and collect accurate data during simulation, inputting all treatment-related information into the verify-and-record system.

You will assist the physician or nurse in administering contrast agents during treatment localization and ensure quality treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation. Portal imaging will be performed according to departmental procedures to maintain consistency in treatment portal placement. Patient care is central to this role: you will explain procedures to patients and families, respond to concerns, observe for expected and unexpected treatment reactions, and communicate findings to appropriate staff. You will reinforce patient education and side effect management information.

Maintaining a safe, orderly treatment room and proficiency with all required computer applications are essential daily responsibilities.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program from a JRCERT-accredited institution
• Minimum 2 years of radiation therapy experience
• ARRT Certificate (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Pennsylvania Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 certifications
