NICU RN Job in Austin, TX

You'll work as a registered nurse in a Level 2 NICU at South Austin Hospital, providing direct patient care on a 9-bed unit with overflow capacity up to 15 patients. This is a 13-week contract assignment running from July 13, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12 night shifts: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Night shift team typically includes 3–4 RNs per shift
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3, with occasional 1:1 assignments for high-acuity patients awaiting transport

Your Responsibilities

• Perform full admissions of new NICU patients, including IV starts and lab draws
• Assist the NNP with complex procedures: surfactant administration, UVC placement, lumbar puncture, needle aspiration of pneumothorax, and circumcision
• Manage respiratory support equipment including SiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and LFNC
• Oversee feeding pumps and IV support systems including UVC and PIV lines
• Deliver comprehensive neonatal nursing care aligned with unit protocols

What You Bring

• Current RN licensure
• NICU experience required—candidates without NICU background will not be considered
• Delivery experience preferred

Compensation

Weekly pay: $1,839.60
