ICU Registered Nurse Job in Waupaca, WI

ThedaCare - Waupaca is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 10-week travel contract in our Intensive Care Unit. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three times per week, with 36 guaranteed hours weekly. This is a direct patient-care role in a 20-bed unit with an average daily census of 12 to 18 patients.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care with typical patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally reaching 1:7 on busier days
• Manage patients on continuous IV drips and other monitoring equipment
• Float throughout the facility as needed based on unit demands and within a 60-mile radius to other ThedaCare locations
• Participate in every-other-weekend scheduling and holiday rotations
• Document patient care using the EPIC charting system

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN license
• 1–2+ years of ICU or Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) experience
• Stepdown or critical access healthcare experience strongly preferred
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• EPIC charting experience within the last 12 months
• Comfort managing patients requiring medication drips
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred but not required

Additional Details

• No on-call or callback requirements
• Missed shifts must be made up within two weeks
• Wear black scrubs
• Previous travel healthcare experience is preferred

This stepdown/med-surg unit operates with higher acuity than a traditional ICU due to the rural hospital setting. The role offers stability with guaranteed hours, no unexpected call-ins, and straightforward scheduling expectations.
