ICU Registered Nurse Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for its ICU. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 16, 2026, with 4x12 night shifts at $2,799.36 weekly.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care in a mixed ICU setting treating medical, surgical, trauma, and open heart patients. Patient ratios are 2:1 across all shifts. The unit maintains 24 beds with a daily census of 12–24 patients and serves adult and geriatric populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage critically ill patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical ventilation
• Perform CRRT, IABP, and Impella procedures
• Administer continuous IV sedation and paralytics; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Manage central lines, arterial lines, and ports; provide ventilator and EVD care
• Interpret arterial blood gases and manage dysrhythmias
• Provide specialized care including post-cardiac surgery, post-craniotomy, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury management
• Float to other campus units as needed

Requirements

• Current RN licensure
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience; travel experience preferred
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
• Ability to work 4x12 night shifts with weekend coverage
• Must reside 150 miles or more from the facility
• Flexibility to float between units

Preferred Skills

• Altera charting system experience
• Proficiency with BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and hemodynamic monitoring
