PACU Registered Nurse Job in Saint Louis, MO

You will provide specialized postoperative nursing care in the PACU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing. You'll work a Monday–Friday schedule of 4x10-hour shifts with start times between 0800–1000, plus 24 hours of on-call per 6-week cycle as needed. This role offers 40 guaranteed hours per week with no weekend requirements.

Your responsibilities include:

• Care for postoperative patients with a 1:2 patient ratio, including GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive, bariatric, and some ENT cases
• Manage complicated recoveries involving multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and general anesthesia emergence
• Administer IV vasopressors and maintain ventilated patients
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias per EKG interpretation standards
• Conduct pre-op assessments, education, and medication administration
• Support pre- and post-IR procedures
• Float within the service line as needed
• When no PACU patients are present on night shifts, pre-op patients for first cases (0530–0730)
• Care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience or Level I Trauma Center experience
• PACU and critical care experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Relias EKG exam (dysrhythmia interpretation and management)
• Epic charting system proficiency
• IV insertion and maintenance skills

You'll have access to interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams. Navy scrubs are required. Weekly pay is $2,351 for a 91-day assignment beginning October 12, 2026.
