NICU RN Job in Phoenix, AZ

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the NICU at St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a 91-day travel assignment running three 12-hour day shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with weekly pay of $2,334.

Experience and Certifications

• Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required; busy Level 3 experience will be considered
• Minimum 3 years of overall nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Cardiac STABLE certification is a plus
• Previous travel experience preferred
• BSN not required

Schedule and Unit Details

• Work 3 shifts per week on a 12-hour day schedule
• Four weekend shifts required per four-week cycle
• Holiday schedule based on unit coverage needs
• Patient ratios: 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in Level 2 care
• 71-bed unit with 17 stepdown beds and 4 private rooms

Clinical Environment

You'll care for premature infants, babies with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical cases, ECMO patients, and those undergoing cooling therapy. Neonatologists and midlevels are available on-site 24/7. Respiratory Therapy manages ventilators; Pharmacy and Patient Care Technicians support each shift. The unit uses Cerner EMR for charting and Phillips Telemetry for monitoring. You may float to Mother Baby and Labor Care units for baby care only.

Orientation and Requirements

• Day 1 SIMs Lab: pass/fail assessment covering Foley catheter insertion and sterile field competency
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 to 3 days on the unit
• Additional education in lifts, restraints, and wound care
• Wear navy scrubs
