PACU Registered Nurse Job in San Francisco, CA

You will provide direct nursing care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Sutter Health CPMC Van Ness Campus. This is a 91-day travel assignment where you work four 10-hour day shifts per week, with start times between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. You will not be required to work weekends. Float to other CPMC campuses is expected based on census needs.

Your Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized nursing care using the nursing process for geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and infant patients through discharge
• Manage Phase I PACU care with a patient ratio of 2:1
• Assess and manage airways, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and monitor arterial lines
• Administer conscious sedation and manage IV vasopressors
• Perform pain assessment and management, and recognize malignant hyperthermia protocol
• Apply peri-anesthesia standards of care, airway management principles, and pharmacology knowledge

Requirements:

• Current RN licensure in California
• Minimum 2 years of PACU RN experience, preferably in a high-acuity hospital
• ICU experience required; Cath Lab experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Epic charting system proficiency required
• Current ACLS, BLS (AHA), and PALS certifications required

You will complete 24 hours of orientation. Your expertise in airway assessment, dysrhythmia recognition, conscious sedation, and medication management will be essential to your success in this role.
