PCU Registered Nurse Job in Prescott, AZ

Yavapai Regional Medical Center – West is seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week at $2,224 weekly pay for a 91-day contract beginning October 5, 2026.

Role Overview

You will join a float pool serving both the Med-Surg Telemetry and PCU units across campus locations. Your responsibilities include caring for geriatric patients, orthopedic cases, and post-procedural cardiac patients including post-MI, post-Cardiac Catheterization, and CABG post-op patients. You will manage patient loads with ratios of 1:4 in PCU and 1:5–6 in Med-Surg Telemetry.

Clinical Expectations

• Interpret telemetry strips and pass a dysrhythmia exam (80% score required within two attempts before contract signing)
• Titrate infusions including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
• Operate respiratory equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, and Heated High Flow
• Chart in Cerner

Scheduling & Logistics

Shifts are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Every other weekend is required. Unit assignments are communicated via text message 2 hours before your shift begins. You will float between two campuses located 20–25 minutes apart. There are no on-call or standby requirements. The cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts per contract (3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks). You will be included in the permanent staff holiday rotation.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year PCU experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Comfort with travel between facility locations

Orientation & Dress Code

Your orientation includes 8 hours of general hospital orientation, one 12-hour shift at West Med-Tele, and one 12-hour shift at PCU. Wear solid-color professional scrubs; the facility is transitioning to Navy scrubs beginning in October.
