ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Every other weekend schedule required, with additional weekend shifts based on unit need
• On-call required as needed
• 3+ years of RN ICU experience required
• 6 months of travel nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Valid California RN License required
• Charting system experience required; Epic system used
• Patient ratio experience of 2:1
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Must be proficient with a wide range of ICU skills including arterial line management, ventilator management, central line care, blood product administration, CRRT/CVVHD, ECMO care, IABP, Impella, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, BiPAP/CPAP management, and IV insulin protocols
• Additional skills include care of post-cardiac surgery patients (CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement), CVA/acute stroke management, procedural sedation, high flow nasal cannula, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Special equipment used includes NXT Stage CRRT, EKOS, ventilators, IABP, and Impella
• Special procedures performed include open heart surgery, VAT, thoracotomy, TAVR, and ECMO
• Patient population includes adults with diagnoses such as sepsis, AKI, respiratory failure, STEMI, heart failure, stroke, cardiogenic shock, DKA, and surgical cases
• Daily census ranges from 16 to 20 patients in a 24-bed unit
• May float to other units within scope of practice or to alternate campuses based on need and census
• Travelers should expect approximately 1.5 hours advance notice prior to shift start time when floating is requested; a shuttle is provided
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
