PCU Registered Nurse Job in Columbia, SC

Prisma Health Richland Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU), also known as the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (IICU). This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 23, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care in a 1:3 patient ratio across days, nights, and weekends. Your patient population includes adult trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases. You will monitor and intervene for patients every 1–2 hours, manage direct admissions and ICU transfers, and respond to escalations from Rapid Response Teams.

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry management
• Ventilator management and care
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Medication management and administration

Scheduling & Staffing Model

You will work 3×12 shifts on days. The unit is self-scheduling with 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period. You may float to other units or campuses based on census, limited to areas where you hold documented competencies.

Equipment & Environment

The unit uses Hercules patient re-positioners, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps to support safe patient handling and care delivery.

Qualifications

• Active SC or multistate nursing license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 completed travel assignment
• Previous IICU/ICU experience with 1:3 or higher acuity required
• First-time travelers must have 3 years of experience within specialty and critical care background
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,021.76 for the 91-day assignment.
